April Habit!-2020 Habit Challenge!

Here we are, already on Month #3! If you are like me at all, the disruption of Covid-19, and the ensuing decision to shelter-in-place(so far a personal choice in my section of the country), caused my floor mopping month to lag. The thing I find encouraging about continuing this challenge and adding a 3 rd habit when I did not fully cultivate the 2 nd one, is that this habit is going to be a little different. So far we have dealt with a habit that encompassed a larger chunk of time 3x a week. I found with this type of habit growth, that it often just slipped my mind. Unlike doing the dishes or brushing my teeth, it was not a daily habit, but instead merely a frequent one. That is going to change this month. Get ready, because this month I am challenging you to cultivate a DAILY habit!! I love the way that God works, because I decided the order of these habits mostly on a whim. I literally wrote them down as they came to me. So the first habit I thought of was for Februar

March Habit!-2020 Habit Challenge!!

You made it to month two of the Habit Challenge!! No matter how well you did with February’s habit, today marks the beginning of a new month, and a new habit to work on. Please remember that you also want to be doing your best to keep up the habit from last month. March’s habit, however, takes priority in your daily achievable to-do list. Before we dive into March, let me give you a quick recap of how my month with the bathroom habit went. If you are ready to skip to the instructions, feel free to scroll past my recap. Week 1(February 1 st through 7 th ). #1 We started the challenge on a Saturday this last month, and that afternoon I dove in, ready to tackle both my full and my half bath with level 3 exuberance. And I did! My main bathroom was sparkling and seemingly singing after the full 7 minutes, a decent sweep/mop of the floor being the only thing I couldn’t accomplish in that time. My half-bath however had been neglected for much too long, so that 7 minutes managed

February Habit! -2020 Habit Challenge

It’s here! I have been contemplating the idea of this challenge for weeks before it was even officially in the works, and I can’t tell you how excited I am for this!  Read intro to challenge here.  Also, as soon as I put it up on social media and had a couple of you tell me you were interested, my home and relationships were almost immediately attacked spiritually. Some things were said by loved ones that made me want to give up at this “homemaking” thing altogether!!! Yikes, a little bit of a rollercoaster there. But now I am even more confident this challenge has me EXACTLY where God wants me this year. So without any more chit-chat, let’s dive into Month 1!!! February 2020 Habit: Cleaning Bathroom 3x a Week!! It depends really on your personality whether the habit this month sounds daunting for you, but I wanted to start with something that is actually surprisingly easier to stay on top of then you might think! As with all 10 of the habits that we will go through

The Habit Challenge!-For All Those Like Me Who Can't Catch Up

Scroll to Next Picture To Skip Intro Story It was another typical night for me, or at least as typical as it can get with 14 younger siblings to care for and a stack of dishes reflecting the abnormal size of my immediate family. My parents were gone on date night, I was 18 years old, and it was time for the usual chores after the supper meal. You might think that 15 plates, 15 pieces of silverware, 4 pots, an assortment of cups and mugs from throughout the day, and a variety of dirty utensils with no dishwasher in sight would daunt any 18-year-old girl. But I rolled up my sleeves, knowing that in less than 30 minutes, all of those dishes would be washed, dried, put away, the counters would be wiped, and the floor swept. No sweat. Fast Forward 7 years… There I was looking at about the same size stack of dishes, but this time the stack had accumulated not from one meal, but from 2 whole days of me being gone at my part-time job while my husband and 2 small boys had rule
