How to Beautify Your War Room-War Room part 3

I'm so glad you have joined me for what is now the third post in The War Room series! You can find my first post in this series  here . Today I wanted to share something a little more fun and interesting, and I found this graphic of this verse from Ecclesiastes to be very fitting for today's post. As promised in my last post in this series, today I am going to share how I have used different colors and designs to add a little beauty to my war room and help grow my desire to come back to it over and over. For me this required a few different details: Comfort, Organization, and Materials. So I started with Comfort. I knew if I was going to be sitting on the concrete floor beneath my steps with stone and concrete behind me, I needed at least a little something comfortable. This was resolved by the fact that my small couch in my living room, though very comfortable, has way too many cushions and big pillows on it to really allow any room for people. Thus, I swiped the two co

My Marriage Battlefield-War Room part 2

Welcome back to my series involving my war room!! Today I want to share with you both what brought me back to my war room in the first place(which I touched on in the first of these series titled  The War Room ), and how I do battle for my marriage while I am there. Quick Warning for Younger Readers: In this article, I do mention sex and have a couple of my specific prayers written out concerning those. They are not in any way explicit, but may be something you should skip if you are not married.  My husband is what brought me back to God, and shortly after what drove me to my knees in an "inner closet" type place that I call my war room. It is a very apt name as that is where I do battle for my marriage against the dark powers and principalities that would love to tear it apart. It is also the place where I keep my "Marriage Battlefield and Strategy" battle map, which I will touch on shortly. What I find ironic however, is my husband's lack of God(as wel

This Little Light of Mine.

A classic children's song. I remember loving this song as a child for a couple of reasons. First, any song about light had a special meaning to me. Second, I loved the actions in the song. If you looked back into my childhood, you would find a little girl filled with great extremes. There is a children's poem that described my temperament very well. There was a little girl, who had a little curl Right in the middle of her forehead And when she was good, she was very very good But when she was bad she was horrid.   Because of this, my father would often ask me if I was going to be thunder or sunshine. And at a very young age, his nickname for me became "My Little Sunshine." It's the only real nickname that has ever stuck for me as I've always despised "Hannah Banana," and nothing else ever really stuck. This nickname then led to a special birthday dessert called "Sunshine Pie." Of course when my father told me shortly before my

My War Room-War Room Part 1

For those of you who have a War Room or have possibly seen the movie made by the Kendrick Brothers(makers of Chasing the Giants, Fireproof, and Courageous), you probably quickly realized what the above picture was. But for any of my readers who are new to this concept, let me fill you in a little bit. Matthew 6:6 talks about an inner room(some translations say closet), for one to go into and pray. The main purpose for this is privacy. We are not to be showy of our prayer, and it also enables us to be more vulnerable and willing to listen before God when we are in private. I believe that listening to this commandment and finding a private place to pray(even if it is your living room couch when the rest of your family is sleeping), is important for any Christian woman, but let me share with you a little bit about how I recently got to this point of making a war room. I did mention a film titled The War Room  earlier, and having watched the movie a few years ago, I wasn'

Welcome Back!

Hello Friends, Welcome back to preparing for a future valentine! I know that I have been absent from this blog for a very long time, but rather than launch into all the reasons, let's just dive right back into it. The first thing we really do need to dive into is the name of my blog itself, as it very much has a different meaning behind it. I started this blog as a single gal, when one of the biggest focuses in my life was getting myself into a place where I would be ready to be a good wife. Hence the name "Preparing for a future Valentine." Well, little(maybe not so little) update: I am married now. My husband, Michael(real name not given as we are very private people about names and ages and such), and I were married in November of 2015. Getting close to 4 years ago now! I am also a mommy now of a couple little boys who for the sake of privacy we will refer to as Mini-Me(more on that name later) and Little One(his father's pet name for him). During m
