I apologize for the lack of a post last Sunday. It really isn't fun when I don't have time to post, and then have to skip a week of a series. But today is going to great! Today is about the third type of man, a Visionary.
The Visionary or Prophet reflects the character of God the Holy Spirit. They are shakers, changers, and dreamers. Hence the term Visionary, as they see what can be or should be and seek to change things. They are the men who keep the rest of the world from getting stagnant or dull.
Some Visionaries can become fanatically focused on certain issues, such as whether or not we should celebrate Christmas, or the horrors of birth control. While others are simply passionate about all they speak of.
Visionaries rarely keep at one job at a time. They tend to go with the vision that they most recently have acquired, and need to be supported in this. They are incredibly romantic and passionate, and those married to them will never be bored.
My father is a Visionary. He is an incredible, blessed, gifted, committed, Visionary. My mother and us children have spent our entire lives going with the flow. My father has always provided for us, but not in the same way all the time. And all of life has always been spontaneous. I'd wake up on a Wednesday morning to be told that we were going to the Zoo in less than an hour, or be pleasantly surprised by some company that we had invited on very short notice.
My Father has incredible dreams, that translate into great gifts. His dreams have led him to write wonderful books, many plays, and great movie reviews. He is also able to teach his children, drama students, and those he preaches to now and then, in incredible way because of his passion, flexibility, and dreams.
I know some other Visionaries as well, and they make great friends, husbands, fathers, and men. Though you don't always know what they are going to do next, the ride is always amazing, and if you can hang on, you will see some wonderful things.

-Capable of seeing the vision
Cons of a Visionary
-Can cause distention in his zeal.
-Wives may feel abandoned when the dreams seem to take their place
-Not always sturdy, and never predictable
These are just a few of the qualities of a Visionary, and in later weeks we will look more deeply into what living with these men, and respecting/honoring them looks like. For now just remember to pray for your Visionaries, and support them even when their dreams seem crazy.
