How to Use "The Lust Dare"
Day #14: Fortnight of
Winning
“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory
through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
-1 Corinthians 15:57
Wow, 14 days of fighting a battle
and fleeing temptations. That is amazing! I am so excited for you having made
it this far in the journey, and for the many steps that you have made in the
battle of fighting against lust. 14 days. That is 2 whole weeks! A fortnight as
they would say in much of the older literature that I love so much.
I want you to know, dear reader,
that I am praying for each and every one of who is reading this and who is
taking both today’s dare and the entire dare. I am praying that you will
succeed in taking these dares, that God might radically change your life and
give you an amazing new and clean and pure path to walk in Him.
I know from intense personal,
daily, and moment-by-moment experience how hard this battle is, even when one
is adamant about seeing it through. I also want you ladies out there to know
that you are not the only one struggling with this. You are not the only person
who deals with different levels of lust, you are not the only female who
struggles in this battle, you are not the only Christian gal who has this
problem, and you are not even the only girl in your little Christian community
that has faced these temptations and the sin that comes from giving into said temptations.
I was one of those people who
felt constantly like I was on my own. Lust was something that guys struggle
with, right? I could easily forgive a guy for being tempted by a scantily clad
girl or a porn ad, but I couldn’t forgive myself. And I could acknowledge that
there were women out there who liked to indulge in different forms of lust;
after all the adult section of a library or book store is usually frequented by
a largely female audience, but certainly none of the gals I knew struggled with
the same thing.
None of my friends who went to
church every Sunday, were involved in ministry, and were saving themselves till
marriage struggled with these things, right? Wrong. Women have a sex drive too,
to put it frankly; even Christian women. But Satan just loves to feed us that
lie: we are on our own, no one understands us, if we told anyone they would
have nothing to do with us ever again. And it is that lie that keeps us from
seeking accountability, that keeps us from sharing our own struggles with other
girls who have the same problem and no experience dealing with it, that keeps
us from leaving lust behind and helping other gals to do the same. It is time
to stop believing that lie. Gals struggle with lust too.
We are not in this battle alone!
Not only are there other women who understand, but we have the King of Kings on
our side when we battle against the lust of the flesh. He gives us a whole suit
of armor for protection, and the sword of His word as our weapon. He gives us
the wisdom we need to flee from temptation, and the strength we need to fight
it when it shows up unexpected at our door step. That is what the last 14 days
have been about, and you have had victory! For 2 weeks now, you have actively decided
not to put up with the lust of the flesh, but to take arms and fight it!
Has it been exhausting? I am sure
it has. Has it left you weary and confused? Most definitely. Have you felt that
it would be easier to just give up and give in? Oh, I am most certain you have
a time or two. But in God’s strength, you have had the victory. And God will
continue to give you that victory in the days ahead when you seek to honor him
in the battle.
I am writing this on a Easter
Sunday, and I am reminded that Jesus had victory over all of our sin. All of
your lust, and the sins of your flesh, and the temptations that bang at your
door and come crushing in, Jesus already has it all covered! He already did
battle with it for 3 long days, and then he rose again, new and ready for a
personal relationship with you. Cling to the promise today that Jesus already
has it covered, and when we have accepted his gift of salvation, we have also
accepted his aid in the day to day battle against the flesh.
“For the Lord your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies,
to save you.” –Deuteronomy 20:4
Today’s Dare
Acknowledge your victory of the last two weeks by
celebrating! Do a happy dance, sing a song of thanksgiving to God, and shout it
from the roof tops! Let those also deep in the battle know that victory is to
be had in Christ our Lord, who already has got it all taken care off.
