Many hands make light work.

I haven't talked to you much about my family, other then that it is quite big, and that I have siblings younger than me. But tonight I would love to tell you a fun story of how after meal chaos turned into a time to train and encourage many young children at once, and for that story you are going to need some background. So the characters for tonight's entertainment are as follows.
Gorgeous Adolescent: Gorgeous is a 14 year old gal who looks and often acts way beyond her years. She is very good with babies, and is also quite efficient. At this point of time she has just finished a 6 hour work day at a nearby bookshop which included both brains and manual labor.
Model Young Lady: Model is a tall slim gal of 10 with very long hair, an efficient manner of work, and a feisty spirit.
Handsome and Stud: Handsome and Stud are 8 year old twins with LOTS of energy. Stud is very athletic, and Handsome is an intellect.
Flirty Oldest: Flirty is a 6 year old who thins she is a oldest, and is quite brilliant. She is also very good at tasks, and can be counted on. Her saucy looks and long eyelashes earn her the title of flirty.
Butterfly Giggles: Butterfly is a 4 year old gal who is a great helper, and loves to flit around the Chatty and Drama: Chatty and Drama are 3 year old twin girls who love each others company. Drama reacts with flare, and Chatty loves attention.
Little Lou Who: Little Who is 1 year old, and literally looks like a Who from the "Grinch who stole Christmas." She craves snuggles with her Hannah, and often demands attention. Little Who also LOVES books, and flipping through the pages while contentedly sucking on a pacifier.
Little Linebacker: Linebacker is 3 months old, and simply loves to be held. He also loves a good tickle or thumb to suck on, whether that thumb is his or someone else's.

So to continue with our story. Dad had left the home to spend some time with a male friend. Older brothers were scarfing down food in order to catch a ride with Mom to basketball practice. House: A mess, groceries not yet put away, multiple stages of food preparation lying about, and toys scattered throughout. Mommy leaves with older brothers, both Little Who and Linebacker burst into chaotic tantrums, and Stud and Handsome break into an argument over salad dressings. Hannah: freaks out before diving into the chaos.
Linebacker is handed to Gorgeous, Hannah picks up Little Who, and Model is told to stack the dirty dishes. Chatty and Drama are told to pick up their toys, and fix the messy toy room. Stud and Handsome are charged with clearing and washing the table(after a small amount of complaining), and this is when Butterfly saves the day.
"What can I do?" She cries.
Hannah: "Put the dishes in the drying rack away."
Little Who then spontaneously decides that she is ready to be happy, and crawls off Hannah's lap to flip through a cookbook with lots of pictures. (Her favorite kind of book). Hannah seizes her opportunity, and rolls up her sleeves to clean the kitchen. Model is then charged with cleaning the entryway.
Butterfly finishes her task and asks for a new one. She is given the duty of clearing the kitchen floor. Flirty then enters the kitchen, grabs a towel, and starts drying the dished. Drama and Chatty hurry to help by putting away the plastic plates. (Flirty's idea.) When the plates are all put away, Chatty insists they need a new job, and shortly after both twin girls are "washing" the stove off with washcloths. (Hannah had to finish the job). Meanwhile, Butterfly has picked up the trash in the sitting room, and fixed the bookshelves.
Mom had arrived home during the cleaning kitchen stage, and was pleasantly surprised by a dialogue of her little ones cleaning the house. Model, Stud, and Handsome then work together to clear and sweep the dining floor, and shortly after all little ones are playing contentedly in a decent and calm home!
Moral of the story? Your kids are capable and can help no matter their age. Train them young! Hope this will grow seeds that I can later plant, Lord willing, in my own children's lives.
