How pinterest convicted me to do as I preach(Number 1)

So I was browsing pinterest as I often do when having some down time, and realized that the amount of pins in my boards was showing something dramatic. In my blog here, and in my daily life I am often exhorting  women to prepare for future marriage, motherhood, and home care. And to spend lots of time on learning skills that will help in your current or future marriage, motherhood, and home care.
But I realized that my pinterest page isn't reflecting that. The order of my boards from most to least pins is as follows.
Funny Stuff-168
Things to Try-63
Food-59
For the Home-54
My Style-40 pins
My someday book lover wedding-37
Wish List-37
Quotes-32

Books worth reading-11
Books to read in 2013-7
Favorite thing to do-6

Wedding Ideas-5
Things for the future-3
Children's busy ideas-1
Homeschooling-1
If I were practicing as I preached, my top boards out of these would be homeschooling, things for the future, children's busy ideas, done this, for the home, and possibly articles. But what my boards show is that I go on pinterest for a good laugh, or to pin stuff that looks like a great idea, but then let it sit there and never act on it.Then I look at other women's pins. Women that I have come to admire. A prime example is Crystal Paine, who has a blog: moneysavingmom.com. Her boards range from funny stuff with 19 pins, to things by wise women with 1,362 pins. When I look at her boards, all of the boards with the most pins are filled with things that either take you to a great article/blog which is quite helpful, or to some really smart ideas that would really come in handy in the areas of motherhood, house keeping, and being a wife.
So I have decided to start a series on the idea of using pinterest to practice what I preach. Every Wednesday I plan to write a post that tells of my ongoing adventure in filling up those prime boards that will prepare me for the future, and to spend much less time with the idle pins that have no real meaning or direction. Please follow me on this quest, and stay tuned for more of my interesting and convicting adventure!
