Substitute turns into a better solution.

Last night for supper, my mother and I were making a ham and bean soup, from a ham hock, but when my father came to look at it, he decided that we needed something to go with it in order to fill out the meal. You should probably know that we don't often have sides at our house, because with  the size of our family it is much easier to make one big pot of something that has multiple of the food staples already in it.
So anyways, we were looking in the cupboards to find something to go with our meal, and found a couple boxes of jiffy cornbread mix. Problem was we didn't have any milk, which the box called for. So we debated for a while, before deciding to mix some sour cream and water and substituting that for the milk. It worked! And it was probably the best cornbread I have ever had. Somehow that addition made the cornbread sweet, and the top was a beautiful crispy golden. We will now be using sour cream, which we always have in the house, in the place of milk!
